Lil Boosie Has Changed His Name To Boosie Badazz
Legally challenged rapper Lil Boosie (born Torrence Hatch) has officially switched his stage name to Boosie Badazz.
Boosie has used his new moniker before. His 2006 album was called Bad Azz and in 2009 he put out Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz. Now he tells XXL that he will be using Boosie Badazz exclusively.
Boosie got out of prison in March after serving over five years on drug charges. It could have been worse for the Baton Rogue emcee. He went to trial for federal first degree murder charges in 2010 and would have faced the death penalty if he hadn’t been acquitted.
While in jail, Boosie says he accumulated over 500 songs, and they have begun to trickle out under the name Boosie Badazz. In August, he released the track ‘Crazy‘ as Badazz and was also credited as Boosie Badazz on recent guest spots, like Jeezy’s ‘Beez Like’ and T.I.’s ‘Jet Fuel.’
His album Touchdown 2 Cause Hell had been scheduled for September 23 release, but has been delayed indefinitely.
“It’s a classic,” the rapper said of the album last month. “I ain’t wanna come home and play with the mixtape game, I wanted to come home and hit ’em hard, get that machine behind it, be successful and show the world.”
When 32-year old does finally hit ’em with Touchdown 2 Cause Hell it will be as Boosie Badazz and only Boosie Badass. Even if his Twitter account still lists him as Lil Boosie. Actually, we like how Lil Boosie Badass sounds. Maybe he can make that official for the next album.
