Rochester like 40 minutes from Detroit. The city is actually getting more expensive to live in because they’re revamping the downtown area…aka gentrification

      • BeenASavage

Lmao. I’m from Rochester, NY you gotta clarify your ROC’S cuz Rochester is like 16 hours away. Lol.

lol its not gentrification if people are moving into spaces that aren’t even occupied. a number of the skyscrapers downtown are vacant. IT companies are coming here because housing is cheap and affordable. Shit is still cheap here. You’re saying gentrification like its a bad thing. do you want Detroit to stay the way it is? I’m glad people are setting up businesses here.

Gentrification as in why haven’t they made the area look nice and built up for the residents who were living there already. Forced moves due to poor service and city upkeep

        • Frank White

You’re assuming that I said it was a bad thing. The city was shitty, now there’s actually things to do but people are putting billions into rebuilding it. Hence the new little Caesars arena and Dan Gilbert has been putting a lot into rebuilding it. So it definitley is gentrifying it becaude it’s raising the prices of nearby areas forcing people to move.

          • fonzo517

fair enough. however all that shit is downtown. many of the people who live downtown or near downtown aren’t getting forced out. Most of the people where gentrification would force them out, live on 5 mile and further out and even if there is an upward economic trend aint nobody from outside Detroit moving to highland park or 7 mile if they’re not from here.

          • Frank White

Ha I feel it but gentrification is a slow process. Like Midtown is raising in prices and I just feel eventually it’s going to keep spilling outwards a little futher, bfurther, you’re right there will be a point where the gentrification line stops and Highland park definitely seems to be at that cutoff line ha

Land is only valuable as long as you can make a good living near it. There’s like 16 jobs total in the detroit metro area, and the only way to get it is to suck some union bosses dick. There’s hosues in detroit with an asking price of $50 as long as you pay the back taxes
